The FIGI Symposium was held in Cairo, Egypt from January 22 - 24, 2019. FIGI, the Financial Inclusion Global Initiative, is supported by the ITU-T, the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, and the World Bank. It focuses on providing standards for digital financial services and addresses all aspects of these services, including cyber security, consumer protection, and quality metrics. For more information, please visit https://www.worldbank.org/en/topic/financialinclusion/brief/figi. These standardization activities also aim to provide guidance to regulators in the mobile network and financial sector.
Dr. Wolfgang Balzer of Focus Infocom presented the results of the FIGI QoS Workstream within the Security, Infrastructure and Trust Working Group, which he co-chairs. Dr. Balzer also held a Capacity Building workshop for the delegates of the Symposium that provided know-how and practical working techniques for QoS modeling of end-to-end use cases of Digital Financial Services.
FIGI’s QoS workstream developed the methodology to measure quality metrics and best practices for conducting test campaigns. This deliverable will serve as input for the corresponding standardization within ITU-T Study Group 12.
